LOGLINE
A satirical triptych that follows three young women, who all look identical. One girl stages a heist, another discovers her secret lover is also sleeping with her boyfriend, while the third sets out to save a woman from suicide.
SYNOPSIS
Violet works a dead-end job as an assistant manager at an arcade where all the customers are over 70 years old. Faced with the financial pressures of modern life, she and her co-worker Em decide to steal someone else’s money. Their plan to rob the arcade goes awry when its shady owner intervenes, forcing Violet to flee into the night.
Sinopia, Violet’s identical double, is having an affair with a divorce attorney named Henry James, who is also sleeping with her boyfriend, Richard. When Sinopia and Richard unexpectedly cross paths in Henry’s apartment building, they become trapped in an elevator, where they are forced to confront their relationship and speak honestly for the first time in years.
Meanwhile, Jade, another identical double, works as a pickpocket. After discovering a suicide note, she tracks down its author, Ruth, a woman prepared to sacrifice herself to pay off her mother’s crippling gambling debts. Determined to help, Jade enters a high-stakes poker game to win the money Ruth needs, ultimately facing a choice of her own.
Through these three intersecting stories, The Arrow at Rest at Every Instant of Its Flight explores identity, money, love, faith and the search for meaning in a chaotic modern world. Blending satire, surrealism and an energetic, New Wave-inspired sensibility, the film finds moments of beauty, freedom and unexpected optimism amid the absurdities of everyday life.
